STEAM STERILIZATION PHASES/CYCLES (STAGES)
STEAM STERILIZATION CONSISTS OF 3 PHASES MOST CASES AND A 4TH PHASE IN OTHER PHASES
Conditioning – During the conditioning stage (first phase) air is removed from the chamber by replacing it with steam. The chamber is filled with load
Exposure – Chamber temperature is raised to and stabilized at recommended temperature as in manufacturer’s IFU
Exhaust – Bottom drain opens and steam is let out
Drying – The interior load returns to ambient temperature and pressure (not applicable in all methods of sterilization)
